International Cooperation and Training

About CICT

The Centre for International Cooperation and Training (CICT) is a specialized unit academic division of the National Institute of Co-operative Development (NICD), Sri Lanka, established to promote international collaboration, capacity development, knowledge exchange, and institutional partnerships in support of cooperative and socio-economic development.

As the focal point for NICD's international engagements, CICT serves as a platform for connecting Sri Lanka's cooperative sector with regional and global institutions, development partners, universities, training organizations, and international cooperative networks. The Centre facilitates the sharing of knowledge, best practices, innovative approaches, and emerging trends that contribute to strengthening human resource development and institutional excellence.

CICT is committed not only to advancing cooperative development through international partnerships but also to diversifying NICD's educational and professional development services by establishing collaborations with internationally recognized academic and training institutions.

Objectives

  1. Promote International Cooperation

Establish and strengthen partnerships with international organizations, cooperative institutions, universities, development agencies, and professional bodies to enhance knowledge sharing and collaborative initiatives.

  1. Facilitate Capacity Development

Design and implement training programmes, study visits, workshops, seminars, and professional development initiatives that build the competencies of cooperative leaders, managers, policymakers, and practitioners.

  1. Support Knowledge Exchange

Create opportunities for sharing international best practices, innovative management approaches, and successful cooperative development experiences among stakeholders.

  1. Foster Academic and Research Collaboration

Encourage joint research, academic exchanges, publications, and collaborative projects with local and international institutions to generate knowledge and support evidence-based policy development.

  1. Expand Educational Opportunities

Develop partnerships with nationally and internationally recognized educational institutions to provide access to higher education, professional qualifications, and lifelong learning opportunities.

  1. Strengthen Institutional Networks

Promote regional and global networking among cooperative organizations, government agencies, academic institutions, and development partners to support sustainable development initiatives.

  1. Support International Training Programmes

Coordinate and facilitate international training programmes, conferences, forums, and exchange programmes that contribute to professional growth and organizational development.
